Mr. Roel Hoenders is Head of the Air Pollution and Energy Efficiency team in the Marine Environment Division of the IMO Secretariat. He is responsible for IMO’s regulatory agenda on the reduction of atmospheric pollution from ships in line with MARPOL Annex VI and the implementation of IMO’s Initial Strategy on reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from ships.

Roel holds a law degree, with specializations in international environmental and maritime law, complemented by postgraduate studies in environmental sciences and business sustainability.

Prior to joining the IMO Secretariat, Mr. Hoenders worked as legal expert and policy officer on defining EU clean air and renewable energy policies in the Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission and on promoting sustainable shipping in the environment department of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). In earlier functions at the European Sea Ports Organization (ESPO) and DHL Netherlands he advised on corporate climate and sustainability strategies.

Francis Zachariae began the work as Secretary-General of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) February 2015.

After leaving high school Francis Zachariae joined the Royal Danish Naval Academy, followed in 1983 by service aboard several naval ships. From 1988 to 1990 he was Aide-de-camp to the Minister of Defence. Francis Zachariae went back to sea in 1990. At the same time as he was working with the Danish Ministry of Defence, Francis Zachariae completed a Master of Science, Public Administration, following which he was promoted to Captain (N) and appointed to Brussels to become Branch Chief and Advisor of the EU Council Secretariat. This was his second experience abroad. From 1993-1994 Francis Zachariae had attended the Collège Interarmées de Défense in Paris, France. In 2006 he was back at the Naval Academy, this time as Commandant. From 2007 he was the Deputy Director General of the Danish Maritime Safety Administration and in 2011 the Deputy Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority. His main tasks were related to maritime regulation, safety of navigation and pilotage in the Danish, Greenland and Faroese waters.

Francis Zachariae is residing in Paris, France where lives with his wife Jane. They have two grown up sons.

Rizwan Soomar, an accomplished leader with a career spanning over two decades in the Maritime and logistics sectors, spearheads DP World's operations in the Indian Subcontinent and the North Africa region. He joined DP World in November 2017 and is responsible for driving commercial and operations strategy for the regions.

Prior to joining DP World, Rizwan was associated with AP Moller Maersk Group where he held senior leadership roles including Managing Director of the Group’s Logistics arm in Egypt as well as Managing Director for Maersk Line - India & Sri Lanka. After his successful stint in these regions, Rizwan took over the role of Vice President and Global COO of Svitzer, Denmark, which operates a fleet of more than 500 vessels across 130 locations.

In 2010 he was featured by a prominent Indian business magazine (Business Today) as one of the 25 top successful Executives in India under the age 40. He has also been shortlisted amongst the top 100 leaders, equipped to handle a high revenue by the AP Moller-Maersk Group globally.

He spent around five years in Singapore as the Head of APM Terminals Seaports and Inland Logistics investments in South Asia and Head for Commercial function of the Asia – Pacific region. During this tenure, Rizwan also served as the Chairman on the board of Gateway Terminals Mumbai and a Non Executive & Non Independent Director on the boards of Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, South Asia Gateway Terminals Sri Lanka and Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited.

Rizwan currently chairs the National Logistics Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as well as the National Ports and Shipping Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is also Vice Chairman of the UAE India Business Council and a Board Member of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Rizwan has an MBA degree from the Chicago Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago in the USA and a Diploma from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) in London. He has also participated in Executive Management programs at INSEAD, Fontainebleau and IMD, Lausanne.

Mr. Kensuke Ito is a dynamic professional associated with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Gene Seroka is the Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, the busiest container port in North America. Seroka's footing in the maritime industry was established as a sales support representative at American President Lines (APL) Limited's Cincinnati office in 1988. After several key overseas positions in China, Indonesia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, he returned to the U.S. in 2010 to become President - Americas for the shipping line in Phoenix where he managed APL's Liner Shipping business, including 1,000 employees, and was responsible for all commercial, port terminal, intermodal, land transportation and labor activities throughout the region.

Seroka holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of New Orleans.

Mr. Cristian Valdes Carter is the Director of Innovation Norway in India and the Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi. Prior to assuming his current position in January 2021 he served as CEO of CCB Subsea.

Mr. Carter has held various leadership roles and board positions in both privately held companies and public-private partnerships, and comes with broad experience from the Norwegian industry. His career expands over several industries including Offshore Oil & Gas, Subsea, CCS, Port Developments and Fisheries.

Mr. Carter holds a master's degree in Law from the University of Bergen (2009) and an Executive Programme in Innovation & Transition Leadership from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH Executive) (2018). He has also completed the AFF Solstrand program for Young Leaders (2013).

Subrat Tripathy has over 34 years of rich experience in Government and Corporate sectors especially in Railways and ports. In the course of his career, he has worked closely with Vishakhapatnam, Paradip, Haldia, Dhamra and other Ports as well as with infrastructure sectors concerning steel, fertilizer, petroleum, power, mining and coal.

He has served in various capacities in Indian Railways as well as Dy. Chairman & Chairman of Paradip Port Trust. He has been deputed for various National and International assignments by the Shipping Ministry which include being a member in committees to study port connectivity, port security and dwell time of cargoes at ports, Suez and Panama Canals for recommendations on the Sethusamudram Project, Singapore and Chinese Ports to study port planning and development. In the course of his career, he has specialized in port connectivity projects, PPP Projects of Railway & Shipping Ministries. He has also visited ports & terminals in China, Singapore, Europe and other countries including participating in long term deputation at Germany and Europe on Rail Road, Inland Water and Logistics.

Jonathan R. Goldner (Jon) has been part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Maersk organization for over 25 years. Today he is a member of APM Terminals' Management Team and serves as Chief Executive - Asia & Middle East. He has lived and worked in the U.S., China, Denmark, Netherlands, and Singapore in various leadership positions across APM Terminals, Maersk Line, and DAMCO. Prior to his current role, he served as CCO for APM Terminals.

Mr. Goldner attended Texas A & M University, has his Third Officers License, and received his MBA from Columbia University, New York.

Mr. Luis Garrido has an extensive background in Maritime area and has worked on numerous international projects within the AtoN sector. In addition, he has specialized in Offshore industry (Oil & Gas), obtaining the INERIS certification N⁰20CE0344 for the development, installation and maintenance in Explosive Atmospheres, Atex & IECEx. He is currently in charge of the design of wind farms beaconing projects.

Mr. Luis Garrido has a Master in International Business and an MBA, both from the prestigious Isabel I University in Spain; he completed his degree in Global Marketing at Universidad Latino Americana of Mexico. In 2020 he has been trained in AIS systems by IALA.

Mr. Luis has been appointed this year Vice-President in International Business Development Manager.

In his role as President and CEO of Waterways & Leisure Tourism ( Cordelia Cruises ), Mr. Bailom is spearheading the launch of this world-class cruise experience in India. Being an industry veteran, he has played an instrumental role in the selection of the first ship, its refurbishment, bringing on board like-minded partners, ensuring the first cruise is ready to set sail and making the experience one-of its- kind for Indian travelers - amongst others. Jurgen is also serving as Chairman for inCLA ( Indian Cruise Line Association) since 2018.

With a career spanning over 30 years in the cruise and hospitality industry, Mr. Bailom has been President & CEO of Grupo Vidanta Cruises prior to Waterways & Leisure Group. He has also held senior Corporate Director positions within several of Royal Caribbean's brands such as SKY SEAS, TUI and Celebrity Cruises, Island Cruises and most recent as the Chief Operating Officer & Vice-President of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Pullmantur. He has also been Vice-President of The Maho Group, Sonesta Collection Resorts, Casinos, Spa & Real Estate to name a few.

During a previous stint with the Hilton International and Royal Caribbean International, Mr. Bailom has provided his expertise across hospitality, leisure, Theme Parks and cruise industries involving food and beverage operations, guest services, Entertainment, IT, HR, New Building, Revitalizations, financial operations and start-ups. He provided Operations leadership, and general C- Level management and Leadership.

With a MBA in Business & Tourism and a Diploma in Business Administration & Language, Mr. Bailom is a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) from the Hotel & Tourism School of Vienna & WIFI (Institute for Executives), Austria. In addition, he is the Founder of the JB Foundation, a non-profit Cancer Foundation (Ironman4Cancer). He is also an author, entrepreneur, community leader and an Ironman athlete.

Mr. Rajiv Agarwal is the Chairman of Board and Managing Director of Essar Ports Ltd. Essar Ports is one of the largest private sector port & terminal developer and operator in India. Mr. Agarwal is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years of experience and has held various leadership positions in industries like Ports, Shipping, Telecom, Retail and Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO).

Under him the Ports Business of Essar has grown manifold increasing Port Capacity in India alone from 46 MMTPA in FY10 to 110 MMTPA presently and expanding. Under his astute leadership the company also saw successful divestment worth more than USD 2 Billion.

He is recipient of Port Personality of the Year 2019 at International Bulk Journal Awards, Maritime Personality of the Year' 17 at Gujarat Star Awards and Port Personality of the Year' 17 at Maritime & Logistics Awards. He has also been conferred with Maritime Standard Excellence Award' 16 in Dubai for his contributions to maritime Sector. In the past he has also won the CEO of the Year Award in 2009 at Asia Retail Congress and was among the finalists for Asia Business Leadership Awards, 2015 by CNBC.

Mr. Luc Arnouts was born on November 26^th 1962 and lives close to Antwerp, Belgium. He is married and has three children.

He obtained a Master in Law at the University of Antwerp and a Master in General Management at the University of Ghent. He has been active in the port and logistics sector ever since.

He started his career and gained operational experience in cargo handling, stevedoring, transport; warehousing and ocean freight forwarding at the logistics company Group Katoennatie from 1986 until 1992. He held management positions in sales and general management.

In 1992, he moved to SGS-Group Belgium where he officiated as General Manager of SGS-Van Bree. He was Member of the Central Management Committee and the Strategic Committee. He was in charge of the logistics and port handling business of SGS in Belgium.

In 2000 he became Vice President Cargo Handling Europe of Aviapartner, European leading airport handling company. He was also Member of the Central Board.

In 2007, he joined the Antwerp Port Authority as Chief Commercial Officer. Since mid 2017 he holds the function of Vice President International Relations and Networks of the (new merged) Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

Luc Arnouts is active member of different associations and coalitions, like IAPH, Chainport, GettingToZero Coalition, etc.

Since September 2018, Elisabetta De Nardo works for MSC Cruises VP Port Development.

In this role, Elisabetta reports to the SVP Port Development and Shore Side Activities, supporting the establishment and development of strategic partnerships with the global cruise port community.

Elisabetta joined the cruise industry in 2007, having first worked in the cargo shipping business, where she reached the level of Director, Operations. Ever since, she has worked for Costa Crociere and then for Silversea Cruises, where she was appointed Vice President, Port & Destinations Operations.

Elisabetta has a University degree in Shipping & Maritime Economics and a Master in Cargo Marine Surveying (London).

Commodore PR Hari, IN (Retd) has assumed the charge of Chairman & Managing Director of GRSE with effect from 10 Jun 22. He is a Mechanical Engineer with Bachelor’s Degree from Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala and has done his Master's Degree in Defence & Strategic Studies as part of 59th DSSC Course at Wellington. The Commodore has undergone Army Defence Orientation Course at AWC Mhow and the prestigious Naval Higher Command Course at the College of Naval Warfare in the year 2011.

He has had an illustrious Naval career spanning over 32 years during which he has held various prestigious appointments in key positions in Strategy and Operations, Technical Administration and Tactical decision making. His professional graph includes nine afloat appointments including seven frontline warships of the Navy. He has also held staff appointments at Eastern Naval Command and as Command Engineer Officer for Southern Naval Command. A notable contribution of the Chairman & Managing Director was as the Commissioning Engineer Officer of India’s first indigenously built Stealth Frigate, INS Shivalik. He also has a unique record of serving in afloat appointments for a continuous span of eleven years and six months.

Commodore PR Hari, IN (Retd) was selected in GRSE as Chief General Manager (PP&C;) in 2016 and has been in charge of production planning of almost all new construction ships at that point of time. He assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of the Company w.e.f 21 Oct 2023 and headed the Human Resources and Technical functions of GRSE.

In pursuance of the company’s Vision, the Chairman & Managing Director strives to make GRSE globally recognised as the best Indian Shipyard. He envisions to further strengthen the Government’s “Make in India” initiative, create a unique identity for the Company amongst its peers by becoming self-reliant in design capability and by deploying state of the art manufacturing processes. Towards the same, the initial thrust has been on improving productivity, enhancing internal efficiencies, devising new policies, vendor base development, human resource development and most importantly a sense of discipline amongst employees of the shipyard.

Harrie is a specialist in multimodal transportation with a focus on ports, waterways and hinterland connectivity. He has carried out multimodal transport projects in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.

His speciality concerns the development of integrated transport master plans combining elements of infrastructure, markets, institutional organisation, supporting systems, and knowledge exchange. He has been working for international agencies and institutions, governments, and private organisations.

Harrie has been working in India in the field of waterways development and logistics for more than 15 years in close interaction with the governmental bodies, financing institutions and the operators.

Presently Harrie is partner in NESTRA ("Netherlands Expert Group for Sustainable TRAnsport and Logistics"). Previously Harrie was Director Strategy at Panteia (Netherlands), Managing Director of SE-Track (China), and Consul for the Netherlands Government, stationed at the Netherlands Consulate-General in Shanghai.

He is awarded with a Knighthood in the Order of Orange-Nassau of the Netherlands.

Andreas is Director General of Danish Maritime Authority and a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog (2007). He holds several other positions:

• Chairman of Steering Committee for Danish Institute of Maritime Research and Innovation.

Arjun Chowgule is the Executive Director of Chowgule and Company - the holding company of an industrial conglomerate with interests in commodities, logistics, engineering, trading and education. He oversees finance and technology at a Group level.

Arjun holds responsibility for the operations of the shipbuilding and energy engineering business - which is today India's largest private sector shipyard in terms of vessel deliveries. From a position of a depleted order book, over the last two years these businesses have signed shipbuilding contracts to build the next generation of the global fleet - comprising of orders for hybrid and diesel electric vessels for the European market. In March 2023, the business completed the acquisition of the Mangalore Shipyard - which will increase production capacity 3x.

Arjun is the Vice President of the Shipyards Association of India, as well as being a member of the Executive Council of Goa University. Previously, he was the Global President of the NxG Leadership Team and a member of the Board of the Family Business Network International. He was also the founding NxG Leader of CII Family Business Network India.

Arjun has a BA (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Durham and an MA in Organisation Studies from the University of Warwick. He is a volunteer with the Art of Living.

Achille Fulfaro, 49 years old, Nuclear Engineer, married with 4 sons.

He is the Commercial Director and Senior Vice President Sales for Fincantieri Military Business Unit from June 2019.

He is responsible of all the Commercial and pre-Contractual activities from the Business Development to the Negotiation Phase including the Basic Design, the sale of Naval Services and the preparation of Contractual terms and condition for any type of Fincantieri Offer in the Military (Naval) Sector.

During that period he successfully negotiated the technical part of the Offshore Patrol Vessel Contract for Turkey in cooperation with the Turkish Shipyard RMK and the SOGIN Nuclear Waste Tanker Contract for Russia.

Until the beginning of 2019 he was the Fincantieri Middle East Naval Executive with background in the technical, commercial and management field and he managed as General Manager the start-up phases of the new Company (JV Etihad Shipbuilding) created by Fincantieri on the 2010 in UAE with Al Fattan Ship Industry and Melara Middle East. He currently is also in the Board of Directors of Etihadshipbuilding in UAE and Fincantieri Middle East Service in Qatar.

My Inauguration in Business: I was very enthusiastic in doing business from my childhood. As a result I got an opportunity to involve in business in 1972 in my family company after sudden death of my father and elder brother in the period of liberation war. After that I had involved in international shipping as foreign vessel's local agent, chartering of ocean vessel, Owning of Coastal vessels, import of cement from China, Indonesia Philippine, India, transportation of (ODC) Over Dimension Cargo, project cargo, heavy cargo, for the largest projects in Bangladesh.

Vinod has over 18 years of experience across investments, strategy and management consulting and project finance. Vinod has made investments across varied sectors across early stage, growth stage and platform deals. He is amongst the few investment professionals in the Indian private equity infrastructure investments landscape with full investment cycle experience.

He joined NIIF in early 2017 and is currently the Managing Partner for NIIF Master Fund. He has been credited with accelerating the Interceptor Boats programme built for the Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence,wherein deliveries exceedstwo years ahead of contractual schedule.

Thereafter, on relocation to L&T; Shipbuilding, Kattupalli in Aug 2015, he was appointed as Head-Production and was instrumental in the completion of the INS Jyothi refit programme. Thereafter, as Head-Programme Management, he was credited with before time delivery of both the projects – OPV and FDN2, with the ICGS Vikram being the only First of Class vessel of any project to be delivered before time in India. He has also served as Head-Supply Chain Management.

Mr. Khetan graduated in Mechanical Engineering with 1st class honours from Sambhalpur University (Orissa), Post Graduate in Naval Construction from IIT Delhi and also a Post Graduate in Submarine & Surface Ship design from Admiral Gorchakov Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia.

In the Indian Navy, he has served in various capacities and at Naval Dockyards Bombay &Vizag; wherein he headed various production departments. He was appointed at IIT Delhi as an instructor in the Department of Applied Mechanics for teaching Naval Architecture subjects pertaining to Ship’s Hydrodynamics, Ship Structure and Ship/Submarine Design. He served at Mazagaon Docks Limited, Mumbai, to oversee the construction of the first 02 SSK Submarines. He also served at IHQ, MoD (N) as Principle Director, Naval Design and as the Project Director of the first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier. Takeshi Naruse began his career at Japan’s National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI) in 1995, and began specialized research on ship recycling in at the request of the Japanese Government in 2001. Since 2002, he has served as member of Japanese delegation to the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), and he directly took part in the drafting of the “Guideline for the development of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials” among other activities. In 2011, he joined ClassNK where he has become the Society’s Lead Specialist on ship recycling. As a core member of NK’s Ship Recycling Team, he has been playing main role for the certification of ship recycling facility in accordance with the Hong Kong Convention, and is actively working with stakeholders throughout the industry to develop new green ship recycling related services.

Satoshi Sasaki is Deputy Director for the International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Technical Support Team for South Asia and Country Office for India, since August 2018. He has worked for the ILO for over 25 years progressing through specialized technical areas i.e. sustainable enterprise development, entrepreneurship, local economic development and crisis response. Nick was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Group of P&I; Clubs in July 2019. Savraj is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and The Nautical Institute. Prior to joining the Club, he spent twelve years at sea, sailing as master for four years, before coming ashore to work with shipowners as Marine Superintendent and Operations Manager. He obtained his LLB in 1998.

Vikash joined Maersk IBS Area as the Managing Director on 1st March 2021.

Prior to Maersk, Vikash worked with CEVA Logistics where he was their MD for the Indian subcontinent. Vikash is an accomplished business leader and has a successful track record of leading country-level operations with wide-ranging regional roles in the logistics industry. In a career spanning 20+ years, he has held responsibilities for managing finance, business advisory, procurement, and general management, leading large teams in the Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, including holding operational responsibility for the Indian subcontinent and Malaysia. Vikash is a Chartered Accountant by qualification.

Born in Vrindavan in the Northern part of India, 52-year-old Vikash grew up studying in different boarding schools across the country. Vikash is married to Suman and they have two daughters; Sejal works in Edinburgh, Scotland whilst Mahee is currently studying in school. Vikash is an avid Sudoku player and loves to spend his time listening to music, cooking, reading, socialising, and exploring spirituality. He also takes keen interest in world politics.

Prabhat is a Marine Engineer and his career at sea was on various kinds of vessels up to the rank of Chief Engineer. He has played a key role in set-up of MSC Shipmanagement Limited Hong Kong in year 2005 and subsequently MSC Shipmanagement Limited, Cyprus in year 2008. MSC Crewing Services Limited India and MSC Crewing Services Ukraine are under his direct responsibility, and he is board member of all these companies. Under Prabhat’s leadership, company has increased its managed fleet nearly twenty times since its inception in 2008 and has highest crew retention rate (98%) in industry. Cyprus office manages more than 32000 seafarers globally and India constitute major portion of nearly 18000 seafarers.

Reinout Viersma MSc has worked for international marine contractor Van Oord since 1997 after graduating from Delft University in Civil Engineering.

Currently he works as commercial manager project development tasked with developing new projects for ports, urbanisation, tourism and coastal protection to mitigate climate change.

He started his career with the execution of dredging works, land reclamations, port construction and coastal protection worldwide.

In 1998 he worked in India on the Calcutta deepening and maintenance dredging and returned to India in 2002 for the construction of the Indian Naval Base Seabird near Goa.

From 2008 - 2014 he was heading the branch offices in Azerbaijan and India followed by leading large complex tenders and strategy development from the head office in Rotterdam.

From 2011 - 2014 he was Area Manager for South West Asia and Director of Van Oord Private Limited and stationed in Mumbai with his wife and 2 sons. During this period he was Chairman of the India Netherlands Business Association.

Regis Caze began his financial career in 1993 as a relationship manager for Swiss corporate clients with Banque PARIBAS (Suisse) SA in Geneva. From 1994 to 1999, he worked within the Bank’s ship finance division, where he developed his interest in shipping. He joined Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) from 1999 to 2003, with a mission to build up a new strategy and portfolio, as a senior relationship manager. He then moved back (with part of such portfolio) to Paribas in 2004 as a member of the management (re-named BNP PARIBAS post-merger), before joining CREDIT SUISSE’s Ship Finance team in 2005. He established the Bank’s ship finance desk in Geneva and shortly became head of the market area for South Europe (except Greece), MEA-Turkey and India. During his 12 years at Credit Suisse, Regis developed a credit portfolio with some of the leading and most reputable shipowners worldwide. In India, with the support of his local colleagues in Mumbai and New Delhi, he developed a shipping portfolio from scratch, establishing new relationships and providing ship financing to major shipowners located in Mumbai, Goa and Kolkata.

At the peak, his team was responsible for more than 40x relationships worldwide and the loan portfolio reached US 2.5 billion.

Regis co-founded ARROW CAPITAL SA in 2018 (part of the ARROW SHIPBROKING GROUP) where he is a Managing Partner. Since its establishment, ARROW CAPITAL SA has successfully evolved into a major ship finance advisor worldwide, arranging (amongst other facilities) mortgage-backed and leasing transactions on behalf of its clients, and supporting a wide range of shipowners in their expansion plans.

D C Sekhar is an Alumni of T S Rajendra and was captain of large oil tankers at the end of his sailing career. He studied finance management at Singapore and later Executive Management at IIM Bengaluru. He is a ‘Fellow’ of the Company of Master Mariners of India. He represents India in the multinational ‘International Spill Control Organisation’.

Captain Sekhar has led a team to carry our Marine EIA of a coastal Nuclear Power plant and desalination plants. He has carried out techno commercial feasibility studies of cruise tourism, seaplanes, yacht marinas, Inland waterways for the central and state governments.

Captain Sekhar is a passionate innovator and has developed & patented many solutions. He has developed and implemented a very successful river clean up solution, now implemented in nine Indian cities. In two months, he plans to initiate the largest river clean-up project in the world on Indian coast. He has developed waterjet propelled boats for cleaning waterbodies. He has designed and developed specialised robots to clean crude oil tank bottom sludge, thereby eliminating man entry. He has developed and supplied latest generation of oil spill response equipment to the ports and oil industry. He has designed low cost silt trapping device for streams, an Ocean wave energy harvester and a remote controlled wave powered boat.

Dr. Michael Bucki is based in New Delhi. He leads dialogue and cooperation between the EU and India on "Sustainable Modernisation": circular economy, biodiversity, transports, smart cities, clean air and water, energy & climate change.

From 2016-2020, prior to joining this Delegation, Dr. Bucki worked in Jakarta, holding similar responsibilities for EU, Indonesia and ASEAN. From 2006-2016, he had worked in the European Commission on topics like forest adaptation, forest fires, wood products, climate mitigation, deforestation and international negotiations. He inter alia took part in the UN climate negotiations, from 2010 up to the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Dr. Bucki holds a PhD, and Engineering degree, from the French National School for Forest and Water Management. His core interest is to find and share pragmatic, collective solutions for global citizens, producers and consumers to adapt to rapidly deteriorating “planetary boundaries”, and more specifically to adapt the EU “Green Deal” strategy of sustainable economic growth to the context and needs of emerging economies, fostering mutually profitable (industrial, agro-ecologic) transitions for affordable sustainability and resilience.

Captain Sandeep Chawla is Managing Director of NYK India Private Limited. He holds MBA Finance from Manchester Business School, UK, and MSc. Maritime Studies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

He has over 30 years’ experience in the Shipping & Logistics industry. He spent initial 20 years of his career with Wilhelmsen Lines, first as Seagoing Officer and Captain and later as General Manager with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, Singapore, and Managing Director of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics India Pvt Ltd.

In 2010, he joined NYK Mumbai HQ as Executive Director responsible for General Management, Sales & Marketing, and growth of NYK Auto Logistics India Pvt Ltd. He was subsequently transferred to NYK Line, South Africa in 2017, to oversee and develop entire portfolio of NYK group business covering RoRo, Bulk, Energy and land-based infrastructure and logistics in Sub Saharan African market. In late 2019, he was transferred to NYK Group Singapore to drive development of integrated logistics supply chain solutions in Asia region. In April 2022, he has been transferred to India as Managing Director of NYK India Pvt Ltd.

Luisa Puccio is Director for Shipping and Trade Policy at the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, which represents 20 national associations of shipowners from the EU and the EEA. Luisa joined ECSA in 2020 where she is responsible for all topics related to the competitiveness of the industry, among others transport and logistics policy, trade and market access. Prior to joining ECSA, Luisa has worked in Brussels-based consultancies dealing with EU policy, with a specific focus on shipping policy, sustainability and circular economy. She holds a Master’s degree in public policy and government relations from Bocconi University in Milan.

Captain Mondal is a Master Mariner with over 10 years of worldwide sailing experience on containers and bulk carriers. He started his sailing career with Anglo Eastern in 1997, and he came ashore in 2008 and joined the Operations team in Hong Kong. Based upon extensive experience in managing a diverse fleet of vessels, he specializes in Operations and Performance Management, claim handling, security policies, disputes and casualty management, data & analytics, and development of new systems.

In 2021, Swapan took over as the Global Head of Operations and joined the Executive Management team of AESM, which is responsible for contributing to corporate strategy & overall development for the company. He also leads the newly formed Performance team of AESM, which, since its inception in 2021, has been instrumental in substantial savings of over 2MIL USD.

Swapan is an Associate Member of the Association of Average Adjusters and holds a Specialization in Leadership and Management from Harvard Business School and Technology Leadership from UC Berkley, Haas School of Business.

Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa was commissioned in the Executive Branch of Bangladesh Navy on 01 Jul 2023 after successful completion of his military training from Bangladesh Naval Academy. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Science from Chattogram University with distinction. Having an illustrious career of 29 years, Commodore Arif brings with him an enormous amount of experience of holding several command, instructional, and staff appointments.

A veteran seafarer whose diversified command credential includes Commanding Officer of two frigates; BNS UMAR FAROOQ and BNS SAMUDRA JOY and number of OPV, LPC and PCs. He also commanded one of the most important Bases of Navy named BNS HAJI MOHSIN. He was a distinguished instructor at Bangladesh Naval Academy and Bangladesh Military Academy. In addition, he also served as Instructor of Gunnery School of Bangladesh Navy. In his colourful military career, Commodore Arif completed two tours of duty under Blue Helmet, one as Boat Officer in Sudan (UNMISS) and the other as a member of Maritime Task Force onboard BNS ALI HAIDER in Lebanon (UNIFIL). His also served as Director General, Civil Military Relations Directorate of Armed Forces Division under Prime Minister’s Office where he also performed as ex-officio Member Secretary of ‘Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention’.

In his distinguished and eventful career, Commodore Arif attended several training courses at home and abroad. He has specialization in the field of Gunnery with distinction from Gunnery School, BNS ISSA KHAN, Chattogram and INS DRONACHARYA, Indian Navy. Commodore Arif is an alumnus of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Dhaka. He is a graduate of National Defence College, Mirpur where he attended Armed Forces War Course. He is also a proud alumnus of National Defence College, Nigeria.

Commodore Arif has been awarded with Nou Utkorsho Padak, NUP (in English-Naval Excellence Medal), a peacetime award by the government and also earned Chief of Naval Staff Commendation, Area Commander’s Commendation and Force Commander’s Commendation for different contributions in BN and UN. Commodore Arif is a widely traveled person who visited several countries. His is an avid reader who also likes to listen music. Commodore Arif is happily married with Sonia Hasan and blessed with three sons.

Dr. Syed Asif has been working as the Global Wellbeing Program Coordinator in the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), London since 2006. ITF represents 19 million transport workers including half a million seafarers in around 150 countries. His main responsibility in the ITF is to plan, design and facilitate the implementation of the wellbeing program for its global affiliates. He is currently working with a number of seafarers’ affiliates including National Union of Seafarers (NUSI) and Forward Seamen’s union (FSUI) in India to initiate and run 24/7 psychological helpline for seafarers and their family members. As the ITF’s Wellbeing Program Coordinator, he is also working with reputed maritime universities and academies in different parts of the world to introduce short modules on wellbeing and managing stress in their curriculum. This will ensure all future seafarers, before going on board ships, have proper understanding of stress and the skill/capacity to manage it.

He represents the workers and labor movements in various global forums including WHO’s Respiratory Pathogen Pandemic Preparedness forum and UN’s civil society task force on HIV/AIDS at workplace.

After doing his MD, he did his Maters in Public health(MPH) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill USA in 1999. Before moving to the UK, he worked as Program Coordinators for number of international organizations and implemented different reproductive and occupational health care programs for transport workers.

Rune Braastad is the Senior Vice President of ABB Marine Systems with responsibility of the global Sales, Execution and R&D; of New Build vessels. With more than 20 years of experience in the company, he has extensive management and technical experience within the maritime sectors in Asia, Europe and Americas.

Rune Braastad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from University of South-Eastern Norway.

Saurabh is currently appointed as the Publications and Advocacy (P&A;) Director with OCIMF, where he sits on the Leadership Team. Hehas over 25 years of global industry leadership experience from the energy (oil & gas & offshore), ports and shipping sectors. OCIMF is a Trade body, based in London, and founded in 1970. OCIMF represents 112 Oil & Gas multinational corporations from around the World, with a remit to lead and develop global safety and environmental standards and best practices that ensure, safe transportation of oil & gas, petrochemicals and energy across the Tankers, Barges, Terminals, and the Offshore sectors.

OCIMF holds an UN Observer status with the IMO (UN Agency) since 1971.

Saurabh isresponsibleto lead the P&A; division and under his broad remit, he has a team of international experts covering IMO, Safety, Engineering, Security, Risk, Operations, Environment, Barging, Offshore, Tankers, HSE,Publications and Advocacy, and all the external affairs and Advocacy activities. Heis also OCIMF’s accredited Chief representative to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

Prior to joining OCIMF, Saurabh held a series of Senior leadership roles with bp for nearly a decade and led risk, compliance, strategy, regulatory affairs, and operating governance.

His broad leadership experience across Maritime sector for over Twodecades also includes serving as the Secretary General of the British Tug owners Association, Nautical & Offshore manager at the UK Chamber of Shipping and as the Marine Adviser to the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB). Prior to joining the Chamber of Shipping,Saurabh sailed on merchant vessels, and Trinity House to gain his professional certification as a Master Mariner (Unlimited) with Command Pilotage.

Saurabh is appointed to the Board of Expert of Green Award Foundation, based in Netherlands, is the Chair of the Maritime UK’s Diversity & Ethnicity committee,Fellow of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokersin UK and Younger Brother, Corporation of Trinity House. He is alsoa senior industry spokes person and representative at several industry bodies and committees across the Chamber, Intertanko, IOGP, IMCA, EU institutions and UK government.

Saurabh also holds Masters in Maritime management gained with merit in the UK and lead auditor & environmental qualifications from the World Maritime University, Germany, and the UK. He lives in London, with his wife and two young kids and enjoys current affairs, swimming, tennis, and exploring new places around the coast.

Dingeman van Woerden is the Sales Director for India of Damen Shipyards Gorinchem in The Netherlands. Damen Shipyards Group of companies, an independent and private group of companies, active nationally and internationally in (i) the design and construction of various types of ships, (ii) ship repair & conversion, (iii) ship components and (iv) associated maritime products and services.

Dingeman is responsible for all Damen business activities in India which includes sales of Damen vessels, cooperation with Indian companies for shipbuilding and shiprepair, founding of construction facilities and setting up a purchasing organization.

Dingeman has more than 25 years of experience in the field of Dredging and Shipbuilding. Previously he worked for Van Oord Marine Contractors and Royal IHC in The Netherlands.

Dingeman has a MSc in Marine Technology from the University of Delft and a BA in Dredging Technology of the Dutch Association of Dredging Companies.

Scientific researcher with more than thirty years of rich experience gathered through variety of academic, scientific and operational research projects. Principal research scientist at National University of Singapore actively involved in variety of operational research projects in the areas of Climate change and sea level rise impacts, disaster management, inundation mappingand virtual 3D visualizations. Geospatial technology expert in integration for coastal and marine environment monitoring, modelling and dynamics. Actively involved for past twenty years in various capacities on developing smart and innovative maritime applications, IoT, environmental sensing, 5G communication AI and ML based data analytics for Ports and Defense sector.

Francesco Raffa was appointed Director of Asian, USA and Growth markets, effective from July 2022. He’s responsible for expanding the company’s leading presence in those markets.

Francesco Raffa joined Costa Cruises more than 11 years ago in the Revenue Management Department in Europe. Since then, he has covered different roles with increased responsibility in commercial area both in Europe and Asia, in strategy & planning as well as operations and field sales, then become National Sales Director responsible for Greater China sales activities. He had worked in Costa Asia based in Shanghai from 2016 to 2020.

Francesco Raffa studied Economy in Messina (Italy) and completed his education by attending general management program at the Bocconi University in Milan.

Jesper is the Global Chief Operating Officerof DP World Marine Services and Group CEO and active Board Member of UnifeederGroup.

He has been the Group CEO of Unifeeder Group since 2007 and after the company was acquired by DP World in2018, Jesper took on his current role leading our Marine Services business in2021 in addition to his existing role as Unifeeder’ s Group CEO.

Having started his career as a Capacity Manager at Unifeeder atAarhus Harbour in 1990, Jesper progressed and grew the company intoa global logistics company with over 1500 staff and presence in 40+countries and a yearly turnover in excess of EUR 1 billion.

As a Global COO of Marine Services, Jesper leads various entities under this division such as P&O; Ferries, P&O; Ferrymasters,P&O; Maritime Logistics and the Unifeeder Group.

Jesper Kristensen has above 30 years’ experience in the Marine Industriesas Top Executive and holds HD in Business Administration of ForeignTrade (1997), and a management certificate from London Business School(1999).

Madadh MacLaine is a visionary entrepreneur working in sustainability and the maritime sector. She is the Founder and CEO of Zero Emissions Maritime Technology Ltd (ZEM-Tech) Secretary-General of the Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTAs), co-founder of the International Windships Association (IWSA), as well as Founder Director of the sustainable development NGO, Fair Winds Trust. She has a background in hydrogen water electrolysis and maritime systems, having represented ITM Power, plc, in the maritime industry.

Madadh has been working in zero-emissions shipping since she began designs for a ZE multi-access cargo ship in 2000. Frustrated by the lack of available technology, she set off on a course to bring ZE Ship Technology to the market. She founded ZESTAs to promote the interests of the Zero Emissions Ship Technology Industry in 2019. The goals of ZESTAs are to support ZE Technology development, represent its interests in the international shipping industry and regulatory bodies, and ensure a level playing field for Zero Emissions Ship Technologies, as well as shipowners, who are coming under increasing pressure to decarbonize their fleets. ZESTAs has recently been granted consultative statuse at the IMO.

Mark is the leader of Nautilus International - the world’s first transboundary trade union for maritime and shipping professionals in the UK, the Netherlands and Switzerland. A former MN navigating officer Mark has a 45-year career in the maritime industry. He is a passionate advocate for maritime professionals and the continuous improvement of their employment and social rights. He is the elected vice-chair of the ITF Seafarers' Section and the spokesperson for Seafarers' Group at the International Labour Organisation and a Vice-President of the ILO MLC Special Tripartite Committee which oversees the implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention. He is a member of the ITF’s Negotiating Team on the International Bargaining Forum (IBF).

Mark is also a member of the TUC General Council and the Executive Committee; a member of the National Council of Maritime UK, a Maritime Skills Commissioner and a Trustee Director of the MN Officers Pension Fund. He is Younger Brother of Trinity House and the Vice-Chair of the UK Merchant Navy Welfare Board. He was re-elected in 2021 for a fourth time to serve a five-year term as General Secretary of Nautilus International.

Mohammad Al Awadhi has over 15 years of experience in the Maritime industry. Mohammad has been with Drydocks World Dubai (a DP World Company) since year 2010, a company recognized as one of the world’s top shipyards in ship repair, conversion and new build industry. He is currently the Vice President – Business Development and a member of the Senior Executive Leadership Team. In his current role, he is responsible for exploring, analyzing & strategizing new business growth opportunities locally & globally. He has held other senior positions in Drydocks World Dubai in the fields of Strategy, Quality Management and HSE where he led the improvement of the management systems, quality processes & practices and HSE compliance & culture. He has formerly served as a Board Member on Adriatic 42 Board of Directors, which is Drydocks World Dubai’s super yacht shipyard in Montenegro, and also served as a Board Member on the DDW-Paxocean Board of Directors representing his organization’s maritime business investments in Singapore and Indonesia.

Mohammad Al Awadhi has also served as a member on several committees of Government of Dubai owned organizations related to Strategy, Maritime& Business Excellence. He has served as a Committee Member in the Maritime Industrial Strategy Committee established by the Government of Dubai to position Dubai as one of the world’s leading maritime business centers.

Pradeep Desai is the Chief Technology Officer for DP World. He has more than 22 years of experience in product technology, relating to different areas of eCommerce including marketing, marketplace UI/UX, supply chains, logistics, and seller and catalogue growth.

After earning a bachelor’s in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, Pradeep spent nearly 11 years at Amazon in Seattle. Over the first eight years of his career, he helped lay out many of their initial foundations for supply chain and logistics. His last three years at the company were spent in advertising and marketing, focusing on developing new technologies to get more customers and attract brands to advertise with Amazon.

Following his time at Amazon, he spent nearly three years at Groupon where he led product and technology for their eCommerce vertical Groupon Goods, delivering healthy top-line and bottom-line growth. In 2016, he moved back to India and after working with two start-ups joined Reliance Industries as their SVP of e-commerce and JioMart. He and his team launched several business products and scaled the eCommerce business and technology stack by nearly seven times in two years.

Mr. Rewari, a first-generation entrepreneur, founded ARI in 1994 and currently spearheads the company as Managing Director and CEO. Mr. Shravan Rewari is an alumnus of Campion School, Mumbai; St.Xavier’s College, Mumbai; MERI (DMET), Kolkata (1981-85) and pursued graduate studies in the Department of Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, CA, USA (1992-93). His areas of academic study at Stanford included mechanical engineering, computer science, robotics and control systems. Mr Rewari has continued interest in virtual & augmented reality, AI, real time technologies and their applications in the creation of innovative solutions. I work as General Manager Chartering in the the Refining and Marketing Division of Reliance Industries Limited. This segment supports Reliance's 1.44 mnbbl per day Jamnagar refinery, which is the largest single place refinery.

I look after the coastal and gas chartering business. I fix clean tankers and gas carriers to move our cargo along the coast. On an ordinary day, i coordinate with trading and operations departments to understand our requirement and speak with ship owners and brokers to get vessels to suit our dates and loading / discharging requirements.

In my 20 years of work life, I have sailed for 5 years till the rank of third engineer. Ashore, I have worked as technical superintendent , business development, operations , vetting and now as charterer. Since 2017, I have been actively involved in promoting and supporting women seafarers in their seagoing career including mentoring, increasing job opportunity, resolving social cases, supporting companies and governments in formulating right policies, processes and trainings. We were at the forefront of shaping DG Notice 7 of 2019, the first ever guidelines for companies in employing and sustaining women seafarers. I co founded International Women Seafarers Foundation in 2017, together with Capt Radhika (first woman Capt of India) and Mrs Suneeti Bala (First sailing woman chief Engineer of India). The organization has over 750 women seafarer members worldwide and continues to work towards the cause.

I hold Class II Certificate of Competency as Marine Engineer , MBA and Certified by Institute of Chartered Shipbroker. I am also a certified trainer for POSH and Gender Diversity.

Working for women seafarers in my free hours is my social contribution to the profession that has given me so much name, fame and career.

He has a proven track record in delivering business growth in various markets across Asia Pacific. He is currently the Global Sales Director and Managing Director Asia Pacific for Wärtsilä Voyage Service business unit. Wärtsilä is a global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets. We emphasize innovation in sustainable technology and services to help our customers continuously improve their environmental and economic performance. In his current capacity, he oversees the sales strategy and operation execution for Wärtsilä’s portfolio for fleet and Ports optimisation solutions and Simulation and training.

Prior to joining Wärtsilä in April 2022, Mr Chng spent 11 years in Rolls Royce Commercial Marine and Kongsberg Maritime, a world-class supplier of products and systems for marine applications. During his tenure in Rolls Royce, he held various appointments across Asia Pacific responsible for Sales and Services in newbuild, aftermarket and operations. He was based in Dubai for 4 years responsible for the overall marine activities in Middle East and South Asia region which includes 2 service workshops. He was also the Vice President South Asia and Sales Support Asia for Kongsberg Maritime where he led the sales and business development activities for Kongsberg’s products and services in South Asia, as well as the sales support functions for the entire Asia region. He serves as the director and chairman of the board for Kongsberg Maritime CM Pvt Ltd.

Mr Chng holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from University of Leicester, 1st class hons and completed his MBA at Manchester Business School. He is passionate about energy transition and digital transformation in the maritime sector and strives to create value to help his customers improve operational efficiency in their decarbonisation journey.

Commodore SL Deshmukh, Nausea Medal (Retired), has served in the Indian Navy for 32 years. He holds qualification both in Marine & Aviation fields. He served on board ships & Aircraft carriers. He is specialist on maintenance of Fighter aircraft and Anti Submarines Warfare Helicopters. He held many operational and administrative appointments in the Indian Navy, including Principal Director at Navl Head Quarters.

Post retirement from Indian Navy, he worked with Tata Group for 5 years and with SUN Group ‘s Aerospace & Defence vertical (Delhi) as Senior Vice President (Industrial Cooperation) for 12 years. Currently he is assisting many industries in Pune, to enter defence and high-tech manufacturing sector under ‘Make in India’ initiative. He is adjunct faculty in MIT and visiting faculty in Geo-Politics and IR department of MAHE.

He is an avid writer and writes on defence, Geo-political and technical matters & issues of common interest. His many articles have been published by reputed journals. His two books focusing of Indo-Russia-China geo-political relations have been published by KW Publishers Delhi.
