Mr. Roel Hoenders is Head of the Air Pollution and Energy Efficiency team in the Marine Environment Division of the IMO Secretariat. He is responsible for IMO’s regulatory agenda on the reduction of atmospheric pollution from ships in line with MARPOL Annex VI and the implementation of IMO’s Initial Strategy on reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from ships.

Roel holds a law degree, with specializations in international environmental and maritime law, complemented by postgraduate studies in environmental sciences and business sustainability.

Prior to joining the IMO Secretariat, Mr. Hoenders worked as legal expert and policy officer on defining EU clean air and renewable energy policies in the Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission and on promoting sustainable shipping in the environment department of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). In earlier functions at the European Sea Ports Organization (ESPO) and DHL Netherlands he advised on corporate climate and sustainability strategies.

Francis Zachariae began the work as Secretary-General of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) February 2015.

After leaving high school Francis Zachariae joined the Royal Danish Naval Academy, followed in 1983 by service aboard several naval ships. From 1988 to 1990 he was Aide-de-camp to the Minister of Defence. Francis Zachariae went back to sea in 1990. At the same time as he was working with the Danish Ministry of Defence, Francis Zachariae completed a Master of Science, Public Administration, following which he was promoted to Captain (N) and appointed to Brussels to become Branch Chief and Advisor of the EU Council Secretariat. This was his second experience abroad. From 1993-1994 Francis Zachariae had attended the Collège Interarmées de Défense in Paris, France. In 2006 he was back at the Naval Academy, this time as Commandant. From 2007 he was the Deputy Director General of the Danish Maritime Safety Administration and in 2011 the Deputy Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority. His main tasks were related to maritime regulation, safety of navigation and pilotage in the Danish, Greenland and Faroese waters.

Francis Zachariae is residing in Paris, France where lives with his wife Jane. They have two grown up sons.

Rizwan Soomar, an accomplished leader with a career spanning over two decades in the Maritime and logistics sectors, spearheads DP World's operations in the Indian Subcontinent and the North Africa region. He joined DP World in November 2017 and is responsible for driving commercial and operations strategy for the regions.

Prior to joining DP World, Rizwan was associated with AP Moller Maersk Group where he held senior leadership roles including Managing Director of the Group’s Logistics arm in Egypt as well as Managing Director for Maersk Line - India & Sri Lanka. After his successful stint in these regions, Rizwan took over the role of Vice President and Global COO of Svitzer, Denmark, which operates a fleet of more than 500 vessels across 130 locations.

In 2010 he was featured by a prominent Indian business magazine (Business Today) as one of the 25 top successful Executives in India under the age 40. He has also been shortlisted amongst the top 100 leaders, equipped to handle a high revenue by the AP Moller-Maersk Group globally.

He spent around five years in Singapore as the Head of APM Terminals Seaports and Inland Logistics investments in South Asia and Head for Commercial function of the Asia – Pacific region. During this tenure, Rizwan also served as the Chairman on the board of Gateway Terminals Mumbai and a Non Executive & Non Independent Director on the boards of Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, South Asia Gateway Terminals Sri Lanka and Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited.

Rizwan currently chairs the National Logistics Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as well as the National Ports and Shipping Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is also Vice Chairman of the UAE India Business Council and a Board Member of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Rizwan has an MBA degree from the Chicago Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago in the USA and a Diploma from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) in London. He has also participated in Executive Management programs at INSEAD, Fontainebleau and IMD, Lausanne.

Mr. Kensuke Ito is a dynamic professional associated with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Gene Seroka is the Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, the busiest container port in North America. Seroka's footing in the maritime industry was established as a sales support representative at American President Lines (APL) Limited's Cincinnati office in 1988. After several key overseas positions in China, Indonesia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, he returned to the U.S. in 2010 to become President - Americas for the shipping line in Phoenix where he managed APL's Liner Shipping business, including 1,000 employees, and was responsible for all commercial, port terminal, intermodal, land transportation and labor activities throughout the region.

Seroka holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of New Orleans.

Mr. Cristian Valdes Carter is the Director of Innovation Norway in India and the Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi. Prior to assuming his current position in January 2021 he served as CEO of CCB Subsea.

Mr. Carter has held various leadership roles and board positions in both privately held companies and public-private partnerships, and comes with broad experience from the Norwegian industry. His career expands over several industries including Offshore Oil & Gas, Subsea, CCS, Port Developments and Fisheries.

Mr. Carter holds a master's degree in Law from the University of Bergen (2009) and an Executive Programme in Innovation & Transition Leadership from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH Executive) (2018). He has also completed the AFF Solstrand program for Young Leaders (2013).

Subrat Tripathy has over 34 years of rich experience in Government and Corporate sectors especially in Railways and ports. In the course of his career, he has worked closely with Vishakhapatnam, Paradip, Haldia, Dhamra and other Ports as well as with infrastructure sectors concerning steel, fertilizer, petroleum, power, mining and coal.

He has served in various capacities in Indian Railways as well as Dy. Chairman & Chairman of Paradip Port Trust. He has been deputed for various National and International assignments by the Shipping Ministry which include being a member in committees to study port connectivity, port security and dwell time of cargoes at ports, Suez and Panama Canals for recommendations on the Sethusamudram Project, Singapore and Chinese Ports to study port planning and development. In the course of his career, he has specialized in port connectivity projects, PPP Projects of Railway & Shipping Ministries. He has also visited ports & terminals in China, Singapore, Europe and other countries including participating in long term deputation at Germany and Europe on Rail Road, Inland Water and Logistics.

Jonathan R. Goldner (Jon) has been part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Maersk organization for over 25 years. Today he is a member of APM Terminals' Management Team and serves as Chief Executive - Asia & Middle East. He has lived and worked in the U.S., China, Denmark, Netherlands, and Singapore in various leadership positions across APM Terminals, Maersk Line, and DAMCO. Prior to his current role, he served as CCO for APM Terminals.

Mr. Goldner attended Texas A & M University, has his Third Officers License, and received his MBA from Columbia University, New York.

Mr. Luis Garrido has an extensive background in Maritime area and has worked on numerous international projects within the AtoN sector. In addition, he has specialized in Offshore industry (Oil & Gas), obtaining the INERIS certification N⁰20CE0344 for the development, installation and maintenance in Explosive Atmospheres, Atex & IECEx. He is currently in charge of the design of wind farms beaconing projects.

Mr. Luis Garrido has a Master in International Business and an MBA, both from the prestigious Isabel I University in Spain; he completed his degree in Global Marketing at Universidad Latino Americana of Mexico. In 2020 he has been trained in AIS systems by IALA.

Mr. Luis has been appointed this year Vice-President in International Business Development Manager.

In his role as President and CEO of Waterways & Leisure Tourism ( Cordelia Cruises ), Mr. Bailom is spearheading the launch of this world-class cruise experience in India. Being an industry veteran, he has played an instrumental role in the selection of the first ship, its refurbishment, bringing on board like-minded partners, ensuring the first cruise is ready to set sail and making the experience one-of its- kind for Indian travelers - amongst others. Jurgen is also serving as Chairman for inCLA ( Indian Cruise Line Association) since 2018.

With a career spanning over 30 years in the cruise and hospitality industry, Mr. Bailom has been President & CEO of Grupo Vidanta Cruises prior to Waterways & Leisure Group. He has also held senior Corporate Director positions within several of Royal Caribbean's brands such as SKY SEAS, TUI and Celebrity Cruises, Island Cruises and most recent as the Chief Operating Officer & Vice-President of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Pullmantur. He has also been Vice-President of The Maho Group, Sonesta Collection Resorts, Casinos, Spa & Real Estate to name a few.

During a previous stint with the Hilton International and Royal Caribbean International, Mr. Bailom has provided his expertise across hospitality, leisure, Theme Parks and cruise industries involving food and beverage operations, guest services, Entertainment, IT, HR, New Building, Revitalizations, financial operations and start-ups. He provided Operations leadership, and general C- Level management and Leadership.

With a MBA in Business & Tourism and a Diploma in Business Administration & Language, Mr. Bailom is a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) from the Hotel & Tourism School of Vienna & WIFI (Institute for Executives), Austria. In addition, he is the Founder of the JB Foundation, a non-profit Cancer Foundation (Ironman4Cancer). He is also an author, entrepreneur, community leader and an Ironman athlete.

Mr. Rajiv Agarwal is the Chairman of Board and Managing Director of Essar Ports Ltd. Essar Ports is one of the largest private sector port & terminal developer and operator in India. Mr. Agarwal is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years of experience and has held various leadership positions in industries like Ports, Shipping, Telecom, Retail and Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO).

Under him the Ports Business of Essar has grown manifold increasing Port Capacity in India alone from 46 MMTPA in FY10 to 110 MMTPA presently and expanding. Under his astute leadership the company also saw successful divestment worth more than USD 2 Billion.

He is recipient of Port Personality of the Year 2019 at International Bulk Journal Awards, Maritime Personality of the Year' 17 at Gujarat Star Awards and Port Personality of the Year' 17 at Maritime & Logistics Awards. He has also been conferred with Maritime Standard Excellence Award' 16 in Dubai for his contributions to maritime Sector. In the past he has also won the CEO of the Year Award in 2009 at Asia Retail Congress and was among the finalists for Asia Business Leadership Awards, 2015 by CNBC.

Mr. Luc Arnouts was born on November 26^th 1962 and lives close to Antwerp, Belgium. He is married and has three children.

He obtained a Master in Law at the University of Antwerp and a Master in General Management at the University of Ghent. He has been active in the port and logistics sector ever since.

He started his career and gained operational experience in cargo handling, stevedoring, transport; warehousing and ocean freight forwarding at the logistics company Group Katoennatie from 1986 until 1992. He held management positions in sales and general management.

In 1992, he moved to SGS-Group Belgium where he officiated as General Manager of SGS-Van Bree. He was Member of the Central Management Committee and the Strategic Committee. He was in charge of the logistics and port handling business of SGS in Belgium.

In 2000 he became Vice President Cargo Handling Europe of Aviapartner, European leading airport handling company. He was also Member of the Central Board.

In 2007, he joined the Antwerp Port Authority as Chief Commercial Officer. Since mid 2017 he holds the function of Vice President International Relations and Networks of the (new merged) Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

Luc Arnouts is active member of different associations and coalitions, like IAPH, Chainport, GettingToZero Coalition, etc.

Since September 2018, Elisabetta De Nardo works for MSC Cruises VP Port Development.

In this role, Elisabetta reports to the SVP Port Development and Shore Side Activities, supporting the establishment and development of strategic partnerships with the global cruise port community.

Elisabetta joined the cruise industry in 2007, having first worked in the cargo shipping business, where she reached the level of Director, Operations. Ever since, she has worked for Costa Crociere and then for Silversea Cruises, where she was appointed Vice President, Port & Destinations Operations.

Elisabetta has a University degree in Shipping & Maritime Economics and a Master in Cargo Marine Surveying (London).

Commodore PR Hari, IN (Retd) has assumed the charge of Chairman & Managing Director of GRSE with effect from 10 Jun 22. He is a Mechanical Engineer with Bachelor's Degree from Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala and has done his Master's Degree in Defence & Strategic Studies as part of 59th DSSC Course at Wellington. The Commodore has undergone Army Defence Orientation Course at AWC Mhow and the prestigious Naval Higher Command Course at the College of Naval Warfare in the year 2011.

He has had an illustrious Naval career spanning over 32 years during which he has held various prestigious appointments in key positions in Strategy and Operations, Technical Administration and Tactical decision making. His professional graph includes nine afloat appointments including seven frontline warships of the Navy. He has also held staff appointments at Eastern Naval Command and as Command Engineer Officer for Southern Naval Command. A notable contribution of the Chairman & Managing Director was as the Commissioning Engineer Officer of India's first indigenously built Stealth Frigate, INS Shivalik. He also has a unique record of serving in afloat appointments for a continuous span of eleven years and six months.

Commodore PR Hari, IN (Retd) was selected in GRSE as Chief General Manager (PP&C) in 2016 and has been in charge of production planning of almost all new construction ships at that point of time. He assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of the Company w.e.f 21 Oct 2019 and headed the Human Resources and Technical functions of GRSE.

In pursuance of the company's Vision, the Chairman & Managing Director strives to make GRSE globally recognised as the best Indian Shipyard. He envisions to further strengthen the Government's "Make in India" initiative, create a unique identity for the Company amongst its peers by becoming self-reliant in design capability and by deploying state of the art manufacturing processes. Towards the same, the initial thrust has been on improving productivity, enhancing internal efficiencies, devising new policies, vendor base development, human resource development and most importantly a sense of discipline amongst employees of the shipyard.

Harrie is a specialist in multimodal transportation with a focus on ports, waterways and hinterland connectivity. He has carried out multimodal transport projects in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.

His speciality concerns the development of integrated transport master plans combining elements of infrastructure, markets, institutional organisation, supporting systems, and knowledge exchange. He has been working for international agencies and institutions, governments, and private organisations.

Harrie has been working in India in the field of waterways development and logistics for more than 15 years in close interaction with the governmental bodies, financing institutions and the operators.

Presently Harrie is partner in NESTRA ("Netherlands Expert Group for Sustainable TRAnsport and Logistics"). Previously Harrie was Director Strategy at Panteia (Netherlands), Managing Director of SE-Track (China), and Consul for the Netherlands Government, stationed at the Netherlands Consulate-General in Shanghai.

He is awarded with a Knighthood in the Order of Orange-Nassau of the Netherlands.

Andreas is Director General of Danish Maritime Authority and a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog (2007). He holds several other positions:

Arjun Chowgule is the Executive Director of Chowgule and Company - the holding company of an industrial conglomerate with interests in commodities, logistics, engineering, trading and education. He oversees finance and technology at a Group level.

Arjun holds responsibility for the operations of the shipbuilding and energy engineering business - which is today India's largest private sector shipyard in terms of vessel deliveries. From a position of a depleted order book, over the last two years these businesses have signed shipbuilding contracts to build the next generation of the global fleet - comprising of orders for hybrid and diesel electric vessels for the European market. In March 2023, the business completed the acquisition of the Mangalore Shipyard - which will increase production capacity 3x.

Arjun is the Vice President of the Shipyards Association of India, as well as being a member of the Executive Council of Goa University. Previously, he was the Global President of the NxG Leadership Team and a member of the Board of the Family Business Network International. He was also the founding NxG Leader of CII Family Business Network India.

Arjun has a BA (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Durham and an MA in Organisation Studies from the University of Warwick. He is a volunteer with the Art of Living.

Achille Fulfaro, 49 years old, Nuclear Engineer, married with 4 sons.

He is the Commercial Director and Senior Vice President Sales for Fincantieri Military Business Unit from June 2019.

He is responsible of all the Commercial and pre-Contractual activities from the Business Development to the Negotiation Phase including the Basic Design, the sale of Naval Services and the preparation of Contractual terms and condition for any type of Fincantieri Offer in the Military (Naval) Sector.

During that period he successfully negotiated the technical part of the Offshore Patrol Vessel Contract for Turkey in cooperation with the Turkish Shipyard RMK and the SOGIN Nuclear Waste Tanker Contract for Russia.

Until the beginning of 2019 he was the Fincantieri Middle East Naval Executive with background in the technical, commercial and management field and he managed as General Manager the start-up phases of the new Company (JV Etihad Shipbuilding) created by Fincantieri on the 2010 in UAE with Al Fattan Ship Industry and Melara Middle East. He currently is also in the Board of Directors of Etihadshipbuilding in UAE and Fincantieri Middle East Service in Qatar.

My Inauguration in Business: I was very enthusiastic in doing business from my childhood. As a result I got an opportunity to involve in business in 1972 in my family company after sudden death of my father and elder brother in the period of liberation war. After that I had involved in international shipping as foreign vessel's local agent, chartering of ocean vessel, Owning of Coastal vessels, import of cement from China, Indonesia Philippine, India, transportation of (ODC) Over Dimension Cargo, project cargo, heavy cargo, for the largest projects in Bangladesh.

Hari then moved to Singapore where he joined The Shipowners’ P&I Club in Sept 2009 where has worn many hats from heading the branch’s Loss Prevention Department to being the Club’s Regional Head of Business Relations.

Hari has an MBA degree and a PG Diploma in Maritime law apart from his Master Mariner's License.

Jeffrey James joined Port of Duqm Company in December 2015 as IT Advisor to provide IT Strategy to fledging Port of Duqm in the East Coast of Oman. He is a techno-functional consultant in Seaport Management & Operations with over 18 years of experience with three different seaports – Chennai Port (7 years), Port Sultan Qaboos (8 years), Muscat and Port of Duqm (3 Years). Prior to joining Chennai Port, he has over 11 years in the field of Forensics Documents and Computer Forensics.

Mr. Ashok Khetan, Head-Shipbuilding Business since 14April 2020, joined L&T in December 2010 after serving with the Indian Navy for more than 31 years. He headed the L&T Shipbuilding yard at Hazira wherein the commercial ships under construction namely Biglift & Rolldock projects were delivered under his aegis. He has been credited with accelerating the Interceptor Boats programme built for the Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence,wherein deliveries exceedstwo years ahead of contractual schedule.

Thereafter, on relocation to L&T Shipbuilding, Kattupalli in Aug 2015, he was appointed as Head-Production and was instrumental in the completion of the INS Jyothi refit programme. Thereafter, as Head-Programme Management, he was credited with before time delivery of both the projects – OPV and FDN2, with the ICGS Vikram being the only First of Class vessel of any project to be delivered before time in India. He has also served as Head-Supply Chain Management.

Mr. Khetan graduated in Mechanical Engineering with 1st class honours from Sambhalpur University (Orissa), Post Graduate in Naval Construction from IIT Delhi and also a Post Graduate in Submarine & Surface Ship design from Admiral Gorchakov Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia.

In the Indian Navy, he has served in various capacities and at Naval Dockyards Bombay &Vizag wherein he headed various production departments. He was appointed at IIT Delhi as an instructor in the Department of Applied Mechanics for teaching Naval Architecture subjects pertaining to Ship’s Hydrodynamics, Ship Structure and Ship/Submarine Design. He served at Mazagaon Docks Limited, Mumbai, to oversee the construction of the first 02 SSK Submarines. He also served at IHQ, MoD (N) as the Director, Naval Architecture wherein his special contribution towards enhanced docking intervals, introduction of new paint schemes, re-formulation of ship’s refit cycles, induction of modern Naval Boats & strict implementation of Citadel concept are noteworthy.

He also served at IHQ, MoD (N) as Principle Director, Naval Design and as the Project Director of the first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier. He was pioneer in steering and formulation of the contract for the first aircraft carrier and construction commencement at Cochin Shipyard Limited. In addition, during this time, he was also responsible for major warship construction programmes notably the Destroyers P-15 A at Mazagaon Docks Limited and the P-28 class ASW Corvettes at GRSE, Kolkata.

Takeshi Naruse began his career at Japan’s National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI) in 1995, and began specialized research on ship recycling in at the request of the Japanese Government in 2001. Since 2002, he has served as member of Japanese delegation to the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), and he directly took part in the drafting of the “Guideline for the development of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials” among other activities. In 2011, he joined ClassNK where he has become the Society’s Lead Specialist on ship recycling. As a core member of NK’s Ship Recycling Team, he has been playing main role for the certification of ship recycling facility in accordance with the Hong Kong Convention, and is actively working with stakeholders throughout the industry to develop new green ship recycling related services.

Satoshi Sasaki is Deputy Director for the International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Technical Support Team for South Asia and Country Office for India, since August 2018. He has worked for the ILO for over 25 years progressing through specialized technical areas i.e. sustainable enterprise development, entrepreneurship, local economic development and crisis response. His key contributions were made to the job creation for laid-off workers from State Owned Enterprises and the development of the first National Employment Policy in China in early 2000s', Youth employment development and livelihoods recovery from natural disasters in the Pacific Island Countries in the middle of 2010s'. Nick is responsible for co-ordination of the collective activities of the International Group member Clubs including the internal organisation of the Group activities, co-ordinating the formulation and development of Group policies, the operation of the Group large claims pooling and reinsurance arrangements and the representation of the Group at inter-industry, government and intergovernmental levels.

Nick has practised in Shipping and Marine Insurance law since 1990, and has extensive knowledge and experience of the Shipping Industry and the P&I world coupled with considerable high level management experience gained as the Shipping Group Practice leader at the former Richards Butler from 2003-2007, and, following its merger with US based international law firm Reed Smith as Global Shipping Industry Group Leader from 2007-2019. He has extensive experience of the Asian market having lived and worked in Hong Kong for two years and managed teams there and in Singapore.

Savraj is Chief Commercial Officer and is a member of our Executive Team and Leadership Team.

Savraj is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and The Nautical Institute. Prior to joining the Club, he spent twelve years at sea, sailing as master for four years, before coming ashore to work with shipowners as Marine Superintendent and Operations Manager. He obtained his LLB in 1998.

Mr Sajith, a senior scientist working in Indian Space Research Organization since 2003.He is having core expertise in the design and development of TT&C systems for Remote Sensing satellites and Deep Space missions of ISRO.

He did his B-Tech from College of Engineering, Adoor, Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT) in 1999 and M-Tech in Microwave Engineering from CUSAT, in 2003.

At present he is the Associate Director (Ground Segment and Industry Interface) of Satellite Navigation Programme Office at ISRO Headquarters, Bengaluru. In this role he is working towards the expansion of ground segment, development of standards and interfacing with the industries to proliferate the adoption of NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) in India.

He is a recipient of Team Excellence Awards of ISRO for “RF systems for Mars Orbiter Mission”

Vikash joined Maersk IBS Area as the Managing Director on 1st March 2021.

Prior to Maersk, Vikash worked with CEVA Logistics where he was their MD for the Indian subcontinent. Vikash is an accomplished business leader and has a successful track record of leading country-level operations with wide-ranging regional roles in the logistics industry. In a career spanning 20+ years, he has held responsibilities for managing finance, business advisory, procurement, and general management, leading large teams in the Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, including holding operational responsibility for the Indian subcontinent and Malaysia. Vikash is a Chartered Accountant by qualification.

Born in Vrindavan in the Northern part of India, 52-year-old Vikash grew up studying in different boarding schools across the country. Vikash is married to Suman and they have two daughters; Sejal works in Edinburgh, Scotland whilst Mahee is currently studying in school. Vikash is an avid Sudoku player and loves to spend his time listening to music, cooking, reading, socialising, and exploring spirituality. He also takes keen interest in world politics.

Kenmark Tech Solutions specializes in providing marine diesel engine solutions, reconditioning of marine engine components , spare parts supply, power plant maintenance, insitu grinding, Technical repair on board and technical consultancy.

Roles and Responsibilities: Saanjeev V Mehra oversees the complete technical operations of the reconditioning facility In Mumbai & Power plant operations all across India. His insight & innovative ideas have helped in bringing in green solutions & replacing the chrome plating in pistons by weld inlay method & many others such solutions. He is also responsible for the UK operations . The workshop in Mumbai has accomplished a net-zero-waste due to his vision & hard work.

Past Experience and Achievements: Saanjeev V Mehra's illustrious maritime career has been marked by a remarkable trajectory, starting as apprentice in Mazagon Docks and then as a Fifth Engineer ascending to being a Chief Engineer and the prestigious role of Dry-Docking Superintendent , all throughout with Barber Ship Management / Wilh Wilhelmsen in Norway. His tenure saw him overseeing critical aspects of technical operations, shipbuilding, insurance claims, and new takeovers. He later joined Goltens Dubai as Projects Manager and shifted to India to start Goltens India P.Ltd , before eventually joining operations at Kenmark Tech Solutions as a Managing Director.

Notably, he became a specialist in Engine Performance and pioneered various innovative solutions for technical operations and efficient running of ships.

He also developed training modules for Engineers to have a hands on Electrical and hydraulic knowledge. This was the first of its kind programme made from scratch for IMTC and notably still the best selling course in India.

Other noteworthy accomplishments was the successful creation and implementation of loading programs on the largest ore oil carrier, effectively preventing liner cracking—a historic breakthrough for such vessels which had liner cracking issues for 10 yrs since new build.

His remarkable contributions to the maritime industry have earned him prestigious accolades, including the Rashtriya Udyog Ratan Award and the Udyog Pratibha Award amongst others , solidifying his status as a trailblazer and visionary in the field.

He has completed a Higher Diploma in Ship Management.

Cyprus office manages more than 32000 seafarers globally and India constitute major portion of nearly 18000 seafarers.

Reinout Viersma MSc has worked for international marine contractor Van Oord since 1997 after graduating from Delft University in Civil Engineering.

Currently he works as commercial manager project development tasked with developing new projects for ports, urbanisation, tourism and coastal protection to mitigate climate change.

He started his career with the execution of dredging works, land reclamations, port construction and coastal protection worldwide.

In 1998 he worked in India on the Calcutta deepening and maintenance dredging and returned to India in 2002 for the construction of the Indian Naval Base Seabird near Goa.

From 2008 - 2014 he was heading the branch offices in Azerbaijan and India followed by leading large complex tenders and strategy development from the head office in Rotterdam.

From 2011 - 2014 he was Area Manager for South West Asia and Director of Van Oord Private Limited and stationed in Mumbai with his wife and 2 sons. During this period he was Chairman of the India Netherlands Business Association.

Regis started his financial career at Banque Paribas (Americas) in 1992, initially in New York as part of his last year business graduation assignment (InstitutSuperieur de Gestion / Paris). After graduating from ISG’s multinational program in 1993, he subsequently moved to Banque Paribas (Suisse) S.A. in Geneva, where he joined the Corporate Banking division in 1994, and shortly thereafter the Ship Finance desk. From 1995 to 1999 he was instrumental in resolving a number of non-performing shipping loans, whilst gradually contributing to the expansion of the Bank’s new portfolio as a relationship manager.

In 1999 he joined Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) as a Senior Relationship Manager. At the time, the Bank had decided to change its ship finance strategy and redefine its business model. Regis’ mission was to market new clients and he successfully built up the portfolio. From 2003 to 2004, Regis briefly returned to Banque Paribas (renamed post-merger BNPP) as Head of Market area Eastern Europe/Russia and MEA/Turkey for shipping clients, and in 2005 he decided to join Credit Suisse Ship Finance.

During his 12 year tenor at CS as Head of Market Area South Europe, MEA/Turkey and India, Regis developed a credit book with key shipowners worldwide, with a focus on aligning the portfolio with the Bank’s private banking business model. At the peak, he was responsible for more than 40 relationships and the book reached US 2.5 billion.

Regis left the Bank in 2017 to co-found Helvetic Marine Capital as a Partner, and more recently he became a Managing Partner at ARROW CAPITAL in Geneva.

D C Sekhar is an Alumni of T S Rajendra and was captain of large oil tankers at the end of his sailing career. He studied finance management at Singapore and later Executive Management at IIM Bengaluru. He is a ‘Fellow’ of the Company of Master Mariners of India. He represents India in the multinational ‘International Spill Control Organisation’.

Captain Sekhar has led a team to carry our Marine EIA of a coastal Nuclear Power plant and desalination plants. He has carried out techno commercial feasibility studies of cruise tourism, seaplanes, yacht marinas, Inland waterways for the central and state governments.

Captain Sekhar is a passionate innovator and has developed & patented many solutions. He has developed and implemented a very successful river clean up solution, now implemented in nine Indian cities. In two months, he plans to initiate the largest river clean-up project in the world on Indian coast. He has developed waterjet propelled boats for cleaning waterbodies. He has designed and developed specialised robots to clean crude oil tank bottom sludge, thereby eliminating man entry. He has developed and supplied latest generation of oil spill response equipment to the ports and oil industry. He has designed low cost silt trapping device for streams, an Ocean wave energy harvester and a remote controlled wave powered boat.

Dr. Michael Bucki is based in New Delhi. He leads dialogue and cooperation between the EU and India on "Sustainable Modernisation": circular economy, biodiversity, transports, smart cities, clean air and water, energy & climate change.

From 2016-2020, prior to joining this Delegation, Dr. Bucki worked in Jakarta, holding similar responsibilities for EU, Indonesia and ASEAN. From 2006-2016, he had worked in the European Commission on topics like forest adaptation, forest fires, wood products, climate mitigation, deforestation and international negotiations. He inter alia took part in the UN climate negotiations, from 2010 up to the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Dr. Bucki holds a PhD, and Engineering degree, from the French National School for Forest and Water Management. His core interest is to find and share pragmatic, collective solutions for global citizens, producers and consumers to adapt to rapidly deteriorating “planetary boundaries”, and more specifically to adapt the EU “Green Deal” strategy of sustainable economic growth to the context and needs of emerging economies, fostering mutually profitable (industrial, agro-ecologic) transitions for affordable sustainability and resilience.

Arun Maheshwari, 53 years, is currently the Jt. Managing Director & CEO – JSW Infrastructure Ltd., a man who has been at many ports of call during his voyage in JSW – Sourcing major Steel & Power generating raw materials, Corporate Strategy, International marketing – anchoring each of these areas with his entrepreneurial skills, creative approach and lateral thinking. Over two & half decades of experience in steel industry, he is an ideator, strategizer, thought leader, straddling leadership roles in multiple verticals, a great team builder, widely respected by business associates and a man of all seasons. He walks the talk with Dale Carnegie and holds an MBA.

Captain Sandeep Chawla is Managing Director of NYK India Private Limited. He holds MBA Finance from Manchester Business School, UK, and MSc. Maritime Studies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

He has over 30 years’ experience in the Shipping & Logistics industry. He spent initial 20 years of his career with Wilhelmsen Lines, first as Seagoing Officer and Captain and later as General Manager with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, Singapore, and Managing Director of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics India Pvt Ltd.

In 2010, he joined NYK Mumbai HQ as Executive Director responsible for General Management, Sales & Marketing, and growth of NYK Auto Logistics India Pvt Ltd. He was subsequently transferred to NYK Line, South Africa in 2017, to oversee and develop entire portfolio of NYK group business covering RoRo, Bulk, Energy and land-based infrastructure and logistics in Sub Saharan African market. In late 2019, he was transferred to NYK Group Singapore to drive development of integrated logistics supply chain solutions in Asia region. Luisa Puccio is Director for Shipping and Trade Policy at the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, which represents 20 national associations of shipowners from the EU and the EEA. Luisa joined ECSA in 2020 where she is responsible for all topics related to the competitiveness of the industry, among others transport and logistics policy, trade and market access. Prior to joining ECSA, Luisa has worked in Brussels-based consultancies dealing with EU policy, with a specific focus on shipping policy, sustainability and circular economy. She holds a Master’s degree in public policy and government relations from Bocconi University in Milan.
